Hutch Day 6-7

The pictures are giving off a much darker hue than the wood realistically has. Assembly tomorrow.

Hutch Day 4

First coat on the large base. Looks to me like the holes we filled are not going to be an issue after all. This photo makes the wood look much darker than it is in reality. Grandfather told me it is better to stain each piece individually and then assemble.

Hutch Day 3

Today we began staining more of the shelving, letting it dry, sanding again, re staining. 3 coats is the goal.

Hutch Day 2 cont.

One big issue is all the holes placed into this when they added all the add on hardware. Originally I had just used some regular wood putty, once sanded down it occoured to me that staining this as is may not work because of the color descrepency.

Hutch Day 2

Front side is almost complete but the back side is a mess, trying to decide just how much effort to put into cleaning it up.

Hutch Day 1

Found this about 8 blocks from home. Getting it back to the house was a challenge, no car. We stripped off all the hardware immediately. The light globes for sure are not original. It is solid walnut, I think what will happen is we strip it down/refinish to the shelves only and then try to do some research in regards to hardware that originally came with this piece.

Clock continued...

Clock

Antique Octogonal Clock with a solid brass GB Silesia movement. Not missing any pieces but two of the gears rods are worn down so much that it will take a watch maker to look at the pieces and figure out how to replace/repair them.
